WHO Declares Uganda’s Ebola Outbreak Over After 42 Days Without New Case
The World Health Organization has recognized Uganda for successfully ending its Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo virus after the country completed 42 consecutive days without a new confirmed case. The milestone, announced on August 26, 2026, marks the official end of the outbreak and recognizes the efforts of Uganda’s health authorities, frontline health workers, communities and partners in stopping transmission.
